Midwest Aswang Fest (2026)
Midwest Aswang, a Chicago-based collective of Filipinos from various parts of the community. Last October, we put on a mini-festival to raise funds for Tanggol Migrante Chicago, a locally-based community alliance supporting Filipino migrants all over the Midwest. We sold over 250 tickets for the event and hit our goal of raising $2.5K to donate last year!!! We’re hoping to do even more this October and we are excited that you have confirmed to participate.
The confirmed date is Saturday, October 3rd at the United Church of Rogers Park on the north side of Chicago and the event will run from 1PM - 9PM. Proceeds from the festival this year will continue to benefit Tanggol Migrante Chicago’s work.
We’ve got Stephanie from Stress Positions (Chi) and Julian from Sensory Impact (Chi) on our team! We Chicago-based Filipino writer and artist, Christian Aldana confirmed to host.
To briefly sum up the festival! The main pillars are live music, art, food, community organizations and raising funds to support folks fighting fascism. It’s an all-ages show so all ages are welcome in the space but there will be no content guidelines for any of the artists. The entire venue is a substance-free space. The policy is that no drugs or alcohol are to be served or consumed on the premises and we will absolutely respect that. Here’s a link to our social media [here] for more on the festival.
